´It´s football hunger´ – Moyes intent on West Ham stay as Lopetegui speculation swirls

David Moyes insisted there remains a football hunger to carry West Ham forward as speculation persists over the Hammers moving for Julen Lopetegui.

Widespread reports suggest West Ham have been in contact with Lopetegui, who left Wolves ahead of the 2023-24 campaign after just eight months in charge.

Yet Moyes reiterated his commitment to West Ham as the Scotsman aims for another top-10 Premier League finish, with the Hammers ninth in the table heading into the weekend s action.

Absolutely, it s football hunger, Moyes responded when questioned on his drive to take West Ham to the next level.

I m nearly a bit embarrassed to be asked that question because I m a football nut. I love my football, I go to games, I love it, really do. I have got great hunger.…

´We all love this boy´ – Hummels credits Bellingham after Dortmund star replicates Mbappe and Haalan

Mats Hummels lauded Jude Bellingham s leadership after the Borussia Dortmund midfielder replicated the feats of Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in a 1-1 draw with Sevilla.

Dortmund fell behind to Tanguy Nianzou s goal on Tuesday, but Bellingham cancelled out that strike by turning home Thomas Meunier s cross to score in a fourth consecutive Champions League game.

In doing so, Bellingham became just the third teenager to score in four consecutive Champions League appearances after Mbappe (in 2017) and Haaland (2019) – the latter of whom did so in five successive games.

Bellingham s return of four Champions League goals is also a new single-season record for an English teenager, beating Wayne Rooney s benchmark of three in the 2004-05 campaign.

Manchester City 5-0 Everton: Aguero beats Rooney´s United record on City farewell

Sergio Aguero signed off on his Premier League career with another record as he came off the bench to score a brace in Manchester City s 5-0 thrashing of Everton.

Aguero, already the top-scoring overseas player in Premier League history, entered the fray at 3-0 in the 65th minute and converted with the outside of his boot when Fernandinho snaffled possession six minutes later.

He then headed home a superb delivery from the veteran Brazilian for his 184th top-flight City goal, usurping Wayne Rooney s 183 for Manchester United as the Premier League s largest one-club haul.

City s all-time record goalscorer has endured an injury-ravaged season and was only fit enough for a place on the bench, leaving Pep Guardiola s champions to again demonstrate how expertly they…

Javi Lopez grateful to Pochettino as Adelaide´s ex-Espanyol captain eyes A-League finals

Like former Espanyol team-mate and skipper Victor Sanchez – who is now playing for A-League outfit Western United – Lopez finds himself playing out of Europe for the first time and in Australia.

Adelaide have a rich history with Spaniards – Barcelona legend Guillermo Amor led a Reds team boasting countrymen Isaias, Pablo Sanchez and Sergio Cirio to the club s first A-League championship almost five years ago.

Lopez is the latest Spaniard to call Adelaide home, thanks to some help from ex-Reds captain Isaias.

After many years of my career, I wanted to change, a big one. When the opportunity of coming here aroused I talked to Isaias, with Juande, who was playing for Perth Glory and is a great friend of mine, Lopez said. I talked to my family and we decided t…

´Shock to the system´ – West Ham survive massive FA Cup scare at minnows Kidderminster

Declan Rice saved West Ham from FA Cup humiliation before Jarrod Bowen inflicted a second cruel blow on Kidderminster Harriers as the Premier League visitors won 2-1 in the FA Cup fourth round at Aggborough.

Alex Penny shot Kidderminster ahead in the 19th minute after West Ham made a mess of defending a free-kick, and that looked like being enough to secure a famous win, until Rice struck an equaliser in the first minute of stoppage time.

Watched by England s 1966 World Cup hat-trick hero Geoff Hurst, Rice snatched the chance to take the game to extra time, smashing home after dashing into the penalty area and sidestepping a tired challenge.

Kidderminster dug deep in the extra 30 minutes and looked sure to force a penalty shoot-out, but the minnows were again h…

´Brazil is back´ – Cafu fires World Cup warning to rivals

Cafu is confident Brazil can end a 20-year wait for World Cup glory, backing Neymar to help break Europe s dominance .

The former defender lifted the World Cup with Brazil in 2002, a triumph that marked the culmination of a prosperous period for the national side who won the tournament in 1994 and lost in the final to France four years later.

Since then, however, Brazil have fallen short of expectations and have been eliminated at the quarter-final stage in three of the past four tournaments – with the exception seeing them hammered 7-1 by Germany in the semi-finals on home soil in 2014.

Brazil head to Qatar in excellent form, though, having stood undefeated across their 17 matches in qualifying, winning 14, and Cafu believes this is the ideal opportunity for t…
